Bellingham RV Park, Bellingham, WA
This was a relaxing stop on this summer's journey. We had essentially three objectives for the week: a) get close enough to the border that any delays in crossing wouldn't cause stress (hence the Bellingham location), b) use up as much food and wine as possible to avoid "contraband" at the border, and c) rest up for what should be a busier than normal week in Vancouver.
Mission accomplished! We're well rested and well fed. We didn't buy a lot and we're ready to move on. I did get out for some long (5-7 mile) walks, so the exercise program is still intact. The weather turned from the cloudy and wet to the sunny and dry, just in time for the Independence Day holiday. The pups survived the fireworks noise better than expected, with only a little bit of stress.
We did get out for a little exploring, indulging my affinity for waterfall pictures with a trip to Whatcom Falls, located in a Park on the east side of town. No, it's not What.com Falls; Bellingham doesn't seem to be a hotbed of leading edge technology. It's a compact little falls and easy to get to, so we poked around a bit and were able to get the pups out for some exercise.
We also took a drive north and west, circling around the water to get a view of Bellingham from "across the way". The highlight of that afternoon was when, through heavy tree cover, Geri spotted a bald eagle perched on a pole out in the mud flats at low tide. Good eyes! I had a heck of a time finding an angle for a picture, but did get close enough to get a few with the long lens and 2x extender.
And, as ordered by the doctor back in AZ, I was able to get to a local bloodletting facility, er, diagnostic lab and verified that my glucose and cholesterol are both doing fine, thank you very much.
